Following Sara’s departure from Dance Theater Workshop in March 2010, she started receiving sporadic emails and facebook messages from various artists asking for fundraising advice. Thinking nothing of it in terms of a business, Sara began to meet with artists, colleagues and friends sharing her thoughts and opinions on company growth and health, and how fundraising can be seen as an active and sound stratgey when executued properly over time. Sara soon realized that the need for this kind of thinking was deeply needed in the arts community, and in May 2010, Surala Consulting was born.
Today, Surala Consulting serves over 20 artists with new clients signing-up for services that assist in the development and execution of distinct fundraising stratgeies. These stratgeies allow for the growth and build-out of a network of donors who believe in the mission of these valuable organizations’ and artists’, and are committed to their success.
